Timbuktu American University was formally inaugurated at its Badalabougou campus in Bamako, marking the start of teaching across nine schools and 167 programmes of study.
The ceremony brought together students and their families, representatives of partner institutions, traditional authorities and public officials. The programme included the cutting of the ribbon, the signing of the university's opening register, and addresses from the founding leadership.
TAU teaches to an American academic model: credit-based degrees, a liberal-arts core alongside the major, continuous assessment, and a capstone or placement in the final year. Instruction is in English, with academic support available in French.
